What are the advantages of hobs with extractor fans?
Built-in extractor fans, also known as cooker hood extractors, generally have two major advantages: they extract steam and odours right where they are generated - at the point of cooking. This prevents fumes and odours from spreading around the room and gives you a clear view at all times. Secondly, a hob extractor saves you having to install an extractor hood, giving you more freedom when planning your kitchen.

The spacious and modern Blaupunkt 5II86250 induction hob has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award 2024 for its outstanding design. The jury praised its aesthetics and user-friendly functionality: "The hob, with its strict geometry and flexible surface, makes cooking even large quantities a pleasure," the jury said.
How do induction hobs work?
Induction technology has revolutionised the world of hobs. Unlike induction hobs, ceramic hobs use heating coils to generate heat beneath the surface, which is then transferred to the cooking zones and from there to the cookware on top.
The newer induction technology is based on the use of an induction coil under the glass ceramic surface through which an alternating current is passed. This creates an alternating magnetic field that generates an electrical voltage at the bottom of the pan. For this reason, induction hobs do not heat the glass ceramic hob, but only the pots and pans placed on it.
What are the advantages of induction hobs?
An induction hob has four significant advantages over a ceramic hob:
- Fast heating: The speed at which food can be heated on an induction hob is many times faster than on a simple ceramic hob.
- Low risk of burns: The fact that induction technology does not heat the hob itself, but only the food, significantly reduces the risk of burns. An important factor for anyone with children in the household!
- Say goodbye to scratches: Induction hob owners need not worry about burn marks from overcooking, as the low temperature of the glass ceramic surface prevents such problems from occurring in the first place.
- Low power consumption: Power consumption is around 20% lower than with a ceramic hob due to the faster heat-up.
What should I bear in mind when cooking with induction hobs?
- Induction hobs should only be used with induction-suitable (ferromagnetic) cookware. Such utensils are usually labelled accordingly.
- Always follow the instructions for use supplied.
- It is particularly important that you choose a pot or pan size that optimally covers the respective hob. The cookware used should not be too small for the plate and should not have any unevenness on the underside.

The 5CR394FD0 built-in fridge from Blaupunkt is a real storage miracle at 70 cm wide! With a total capacity of 400 litres, there is plenty of room for a wide range of drinks and food.
Cleverly designed fridge
The bright interior with side LED lighting gives you a clear view of your stored food at all times. Four tempered glass shelves, two of which are height adjustable, provide clarity and flexibility. Fully automatic defrosting prevents ice build-up in the upper fridge compartment. For optimum storage of perishable foods such as vegetables, fish or meat, the refrigerated section has a 0°C freshness zone with a transparent drawer.
