Essen. On 24 June 2024, Blaupunkt was presented with Red Dot Awards for five of its products in the Product Design category at the grand gala ceremony for the internationally renowned Red Dot Awards at the Aalto Theatre in Essen. For the Maira kitchen sink range, Blaupunkt received the jury’s highest accolade, the “Red Dot: Best of the Best”, which is awarded to “pioneering designs”.
Maira kitchen sink range: pioneering aesthetics and material quality
Clear lines, striking contours: the Blaupunkt Maira kitchen sink range impressed the jury with its straightforward, expressive design and durable sink material, which is easy to clean and features an elegant black matt colour that emphasises the sophisticated quality of this product range. According to the jury, Maira features “a perfectly streamlined functional design” with “not a single extraneous detail, which also makes cleaning easier. In addition, the material is simply fantastic”, said the design experts in their enthusiastic summary.
The basins in the Maira range are made of quartz composite, which consists of 80 % natural quartz sand (the hardest component of granite) and 20 % acrylic resin. The exceptional hardness of this material means the sink is highly resistant to scratches, knocks and abrasion, it is heat-resistant and has hygienic properties that inhibit the formation of bacteria and odours. The warm, slightly rough feel of this material and carefully designed details, such as the smoothly moulded outlet, also contribute to an all-round positive product experience, which prompted the jury to grant the particularly prestigious “Red Dot: Best of the Best” award.
Alento kitchen sink range: contemporary and innovative
The Blaupunkt Alento kitchen sink range was also honoured with a Red Dot Award. Like “Best of the Best” winner Maira, Alento sinks are made of hard-wearing quartz composite. They are characterised by high-quality workmanship and a sleek, minimalist design. The jury praised the “contemporary design and innovative material technology, which combines robustness with an interesting feel.” The sinks in the Alento range are available in three striking colours — Black Granite, Dark Grey and Light Grey.
Induction hob 5II86250: geometric elegance and highly flexible applications
In the Blaupunkt 5II86250, the jury bestowed its recognition on an induction hob that allows up to six pans of any size to be positioned as desired. Six cooking zones with three combined induction zones and a double boost function enable fast and even heating, including for large cookware. A particularly convenient feature is the permanent pan detection function, which registers movements of the cookware and automatically activates the corresponding zones. “This hob is characterised by its strict geometry and flexible surface, which also makes preparing large quantities a pleasure”, said the jury.
Blaupunkt 5CD891SC0 fridge freezer: high capacity and intelligent features
With the Blaupunkt product 5CD891SC0, the Red Dot jury commended a free-standing fridge freezer with a capacity of 522 litres. Special features of this electric appliance include the French four-door design and the convenient option to switch the functionality of the bottom right-hand compartment from freezing to refrigeration. A 0-degree zone in the fridge compartment, temperatures of minus 18 degrees (and below) in the freezer compartment, and No Frost technology guarantee perfect cooling and storage conditions. From an aesthetic point of view, the fridge-freezer impresses with its elegant dark steel look. In explaining their award for this appliance, the jury praised the “impressive capacity”, the “clear layout of the interior” and the “intelligent features” of the fridge-freezer.
Built-in oven 5B50P8690: meticulous workmanship and stylish design
The Blaupunkt 5B50P8690 built-in oven, which also won a Red Dot Award, is part of the manufacturer’s Dark Steel range, which features the aesthetic effect of black glass with white displays. This allows the product to be harmoniously combined with other appliances in this range. The oven is equipped with pyrolysis and air-fry functions. The latter is a hot-air technique that avoids unhealthy trans fats. In its justification for the award, the jury described this Blaupunkt model as a “striking and stylish appliance” whose workmanship shows “great attention down to the very last detail”.
The Blaupunkt team is delighted with the five awards
“The fact that the jury presented us with five Red Dot Awards this year, including the highest honour ‘Best of the Best’, is a great pleasure and confirmation for our entire team,” explained Olaf Thuleweit, Managing Director at HK Appliances, after the award ceremony. “Characteristics such as high-quality materials and aesthetic design are just as important to us as flexibility and convenience. The jury’s specific praise for these product features is a powerful endorsement for us and a great motivation for future Blaupunkt innovation.”
