Framed cabinet fronts in cashmere: the country house style, reimagined

The front frame is the defining feature of the country house style. A narrow, smooth frame runs around every surface—without milled edges, without molding, without ornate paneling. Many are familiar with this principle as the Shaker style: it thrives on the joints and the shadows they cast, not on ornamentation.

“Kashmir” is a warm, light beige-gray with a matte finish. The shade is hard to pin down to a specific color category, and that’s precisely its strength: it appears calm in northern light and warm in evening light.

Lacquer has been part of the concept130 lineup from the very beginning—even the KORFU frame front is a genuine matte lacquer finish, not a film or imitation. Brass-look bow handles, model 486, add a decorative accent to the front.

The frame also creates visual order in the kitchen: It frames each door and pull-out individually, thereby laying a uniform grid across the kitchen line. The eye follows this grid rather than the individual surfaces. This makes even a long kitchen line with many fronts appear calm and orderly.

Open shelves and black accents: the modern contrast

Between the window and the sink, there is a freestanding shelf unit with open compartments in BALI Truffle Black Oak sitting on the countertop. The dark oak finish adds depth to the light-colored kitchen and breaks up the space—without making the kitchen feel cluttered. Truffle Black Oak is a wood-effect finish, meaning it’s a reproduction, not real wood.

Added to this are the black elements: the faucet, the railing, and the range hood. They draw a subtle dark line through the bright room and visually integrate the shelf. In the niche, a Linero MosaiQ railing system keeps small items within easy reach on the wall instead of leaving them on the countertop.

The countertop itself is Caldera Repro, a light marble-look surface with a subtle veining pattern. It keeps the upper part of the kitchen light and lets the shelving unit take center stage with its dark appearance.

The floor plan is U-shaped: a kitchenette and tall cabinets along the left wall, with a peninsula featuring a sink in front of them. A counter with two seats adjoins this peninsula—together, the three sides enclose the workspace.

In the morning, it serves as a breakfast table; at lunchtime, it provides extra space for food preparation; and in the evening, it’s the spot where someone can sit and chat while dinner is being cooked. Everything is within easy reach: the cooktop is in the wall unit, and the sink is on the peninsula, which opens up to the living area. It’s just a few steps between the two. The tall cabinets house the refrigerator and pantry supplies, keeping the countertop clear.

The peninsula serves a dual purpose. Facing the kitchen, it functions as a countertop with a sink; facing the room, it acts as a backrest for the bar and a divider between the kitchen and the living area. One piece of furniture, two sides—that’s why this layout works even when the room doesn’t have a fourth wall to create a closed-off kitchen.

KORFU isn’t limited to cashmere. The cabinet fronts are available in all solid colors from the collection, as well as in the “Selection” colors: Eucalyptus, Emerald Green, Gentian Blue, Oxide Red, and Caramel. So the same kitchen in green or red is simply a choice from the collection—not a custom solution.

This is made possible by the consistent design logic: All fronts, finishes, and colors can be combined with one another—in this case, matte lacquer with a wood finish. Three cabinet heights—71.5, 78, and 84.5 centimeters—determine the countertop height; inside, whisper-quiet Metro pull-outs glide smoothly.
