Gray and Wood: Volcanic Oak—so deeply textured that you have to look twice
At first glance, hardly anyone realizes that these cabinet fronts are made of wood. The AV 6084-GL cabinet fronts are so deeply embossed that their relief-like surface looks more like stone than a wooden front. This momentary doubt is intentional—it draws the eye to the material itself.
And the material is real wood: solid wood veneer in a volcanic oak finish, very dark in tone, almost anthracite. The dark color does not detract from the wood’s natural character—quite the opposite. It reveals the structure that would otherwise be lost in the grain.

The stone is light in color with soft veining; its surface is smooth and cool to the touch. The countertop features a Swiss edge—a beveled edge on the underside that makes a thick slab appear slimmer than it is. It serves as a counterpoint to the rough volcanic oak, and because it appears in multiple places, the contrast feels deliberate rather than random.
The wall cabinet display cases add depth to the niche. Glass shelves, vertical light strips, and wood-paneled interiors showcase dishes and glasses without putting them on display.
